The Great Barrier Reef is the most extensive reef system in the world, it contains the world's largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusks. At 2000 km long, it is also the biggest structure make by living organisms. It can be seen well only from the air (for a global view to appreciate its magnitude) or from underwater (to appreciate the intricacy of its details). Bernard Kasser and I spent half a week on a live-aboard diving vessel in order to explore some of its spots in the vicinity of Cairns.I got this information from

On a cool mid-May morning we headed inland north from Ravensthorpe, a small town 200 kilometres west of Esperance, on the Hassell Highway. Cars participating in the 25th anniversary of the London to Sydney Rally had passed through the previous day and we had been fortunate to see many of the 'vintage' racers.

We set up camp 100 kilometres short of our destination at Lake Grace, due to the availability of auto L.P.G., although the hamlet of Hyden is nearer to Wave Rock.I got this information from /|www.wave rock .com external image wave93.gif

Brisbane, Australia third largest city, is built along the meanders of the Brisbane River, spanned by a number of impressive bridges. There are a number of interesting early buildings, but the most pleasant part is a walk along the river, which include several parks, and even an artificial beach. There are also cliffs which are flood-lit late at night and constitute a popular nighttime rock-climbing venue
